Reasonable and proper procedure is once again ignored. WHY???
Tomorrow night (3/18/2025) is a hearing for the new owner of Applewood Orchard applying for an Interim Use Permit (IUP) to continue with possible significant modifications to the AgriTourism activities initiated by the Perranto's a quarter century ago.
The 29-page packet for the hearing contains a lot of information from the applicant and supporting documents from the County related to wetland clearance and driveway application, plus a long laundry list of proposed activities. Good start.
The Problem is that the Planning Commission has provided NO DRAFT of the proposed permit conditions for public consideration and comment. This is a waste of everyone's time and the applicant's money because a proper hearing will need to be called when there is ACTUAL DRAFT LANGUAGE and CONDITIONS from the Planning Commission.
What about reasonable limits on hours of operation? Noise level for music and activities? Size of tents? There are mentions of liquor availability. What about night lighting control if any involved or to be added?
This apparent lack of advance work by the Planning Commission is a disservice both to the applicant and to the residents of Eureka.
Will they next try to write something from notes and rush it to the Board without a proper hearing?
I hope some of you will be able to attend to add your voice of concern, or at least provide email comment to the Deputy Clerk deputyclerk@eurekamn.gov by noon tomorrow.
One voice alone is all too easily ignored - as has been continually demonstrated by this Board and this Planning Commission for over 2 years and counting....
